This is the easternmost end of the City of Melbourne’s Greenline Project, and the entry point to a 4km journey along the north bank of the Yarra River – Birrarung.

Text

This section, when completed, will transform 450 metres of Birrarung Marr’s river edge with new boardwalks and promenades connecting native habitats and spaces to gather and relax.

The project will focus on reintroducing indigenous species into this landscape, diversifying planting to represent qualities of the river edge’s original environment and indigenous ecosystems.

The new trees, grasses and shrubs are designed to bring birds, bees and butterflies to the area, and provide necessary protection and shelter for other wildlife.

It also creates a new and exciting space for cultural gatherings and major events, giving locals and visitors a new place to enjoy the very best views of the river.
